Scrolls trailer released though little information revealed

first_imgScrolls, the upcoming game from Mojang, has a gotten a lot of attention already. This isn’t a surprise because it comes from the red-hot publishers of Minecraft, but unfortunately not all the attention is the good kind. Bethesda, the publisher of the Elder Scrolls series threatened legal action action after Notch (the creator of Minecraft) announced he was making and upcoming game called Scrolls. The battle over the word has yet to go anywhere, though it could have been settled by a game of Quake. This weekend a very early trailer for Scrolls was released. It doesn’t feature any gameplay and the release date is only said to be “eventually” but we can at least get some idea of the art style. There is a brief clip at the end that shows us what the game’s action might be like, but it’s too early to tell. It’s been that Scrolls will combine elements of a collectible card game and a board game, so we have some idea of what to expect. It’s said to be a grid-based game with creature-summoning and a player damage system not unlike that of Magic: The Gathering, according to the unofficial wiki. We also know that there won’t be any chance of confusing this games with the first-person point-of-view hack-and-slashers we seen in the Elder Scrolls series. So far we know that Markus “notch” Persson will have a hand in developing that game and that the story will be written by Jerry “tycho” Holkins, of Penny Arcade fame.via Ars Technicalast_img
