The Mimi Fishman Foundation is a charitable organization started by and named for Phish drummer Jon Fishman‘s late mother, Mimi Fishman. The non-profit raises money for causes close to Fishman’s heart, including charities that seek to improve the lives of children and their families. The organization raises money by auctioning off concert paraphernalia from some of our favorite music makers, such as Phish, String Cheese Incident, Umphrey’s McGee, moe., and Yonder Mountain String Band.The Mimi Fishman Foundation has just kicked off their second online auction of 2017, which features exclusively Jon Fishman’s used and signed drumsticks various Phish shows throughout 2016 and early 2017. Some of the pairs of drumsticks come from particularly notable shows, including their 2016 New Years Eve performance, Halloween, and their performance with Bob Weir on October 18th in Nashville, as well as runs that are near and dear to fans like their annual Colorado summer tour closing run at Dick’s Sporting Good Park and January’s destination getaway in Mexico.If you’re feeling philanthropic in the next month, you can check out the auction for yourself here and bid on some of Fishman’s drumsticks, which are currently ranging in price from $110 to $570, with drumsticks from the Bob Weir show in Tennessee holding the highest bidding price after seventeen bids.
ELLSWORTH — The Ellsworth baseball team stretched its winning streak to six games to climb to a Class B North-best 8-1 record after completing a doubleheader sweep of Presque Isle on Saturday and posting a 3-1 road win against John Bapst on Tuesday.Although the Eagles were designated as the road team for both games against Presque Isle, the teams played at Ellsworth High School because Presque Isle’s fields were deemed unfit for use. Ellsworth extended its shutout streak to five games with 6-0 and 12-0 wins over the Wildcats.In the first game, Ellsworth junior Conner Wagstaff struck out 10 batters and walked just one to improve his record to 3-0 on the season. Jared Hamilton, Jackson Curtis and Devin Grindle had two hits apiece for the Eagles.Ellsworth put forth an even more impressive performance in the second game as Matt Burnett and Brad Smith held Presque Isle hitless. Senior Austin Baron had three of the Eagles’ 12 hits as Ellsworth breezed to a mercy rule-shortened victory.This is placeholder textThis is placeholder textAgainst John Bapst, Ellsworth scored three runs in the third inning as Burnett struck out 11 batters and held the Crusaders to two hits in a 3-1 victory. The win propelled the Eagles (8-1) to fifth place in Class B North behind Brewer, Mount Desert Island, Hermon and Oceanside with seven games left in the regular season.Ellsworth’s next game will be on the road against Belfast (4-4) at 4 p.m. Friday, May 11. The Eagles will then host Old Town in a battle of Northern Maine title contenders at 4:30 p.m. next Tuesday, May 15.
